STARS – The Story about the Brave Ladies in the Goldfields of Lapland

The Gold Museum’s changing exhibition STARS — The Story about the Brave Ladies in the Goldfields of Lapland takes a new approach to life in the goldfields. Although gold prospecting is often thought of as the work of bearded men, women have always been present in the goldfields. The exhibition highlights women who have made an impact in the Lappish wilderness, starting from the first gold rush to the present day.

The exhibition includes the life stories of a dozen interesting ladies — both Finnish and foreign heroines are presented. You can immerse yourself in the history of gold through the lives of a circus performer and cook alike, not forgetting the discoverers of the great nuggets. What all the women of the goldfields have had in common is courage, perseverance and a love for the beautiful nature of Lapland.

The changing exhibition is located in the permanent exhibitions of the Gold Museum and the admission is included in the price of the museum ticket.
