Gold Museum’s summer season kicks off on June 1! During the summer season, we’re open every day 10-17, including Midsummer. Our summer activities and programs continue through the end of September.

Gold Prospector’s Starter Pack: Mon–Fri at 13.00

Gold Prospector’s Starter Pack introduces you to Lapland’s gold prospecting history and gold’s journey from stars to gold pan. On the tour, our guide will introduce you to the gold rush on the Ivalojoki River, the lives of gold prospectors, and lifechanging gold discoveries. In the Mineral exhibition, you will learn about the cosmic origins of gold, and at the end, you will get to pan for gold yourself at Gold Museum’s indoor pool. Found gold and gemstones are yours to keep!

The program runs from June to September, Monday through Friday at 13.00, and includes a museum ticket, a guided tour, and gold panning. The tour takes place indoors at Gold Museum, so you won’t need outdoor clothing or other equipment. Book your tickets at kultamuseo.fi!

Summer Café

Midsummer treats are back! The pop-up café at Luosto’s Torvisen Maja is open in the open-air museum area from June to August. We offer savory and sweet pastries, coffee, and tea, as well as souvenirs. Vegan and gluten-free options are also available!

Outdoor Museum

Our Outdoor Museum Area opens in early June and remains open until the end of September. At the Outdoor Museum, you can peek inside the gold miners’ cabins and explore artifacts from the cultural history of the goldfields, such as machines and river boats. The Urho Kekkonen National Park, with its trails, also opens right next to us.

Welcome to Gold Museum in summer 2026!
