Gold Museum’s summer season kicks off on 1 June! During the summer season, we’re open every day 10-17, including Midsummer. Our summer activities and programs continue through the end of September.

Gold Prospector’s Starter Pack: Mon–Fri at 13.00

Gold Prospector’s Starter Pack introduces you to Lapland’s gold prospecting history and gold’s journey from stars to gold pan. On the tour, our guide will introduce you to the gold rush on the Ivalojoki River, the lives of gold prospectors, and lifechanging gold discoveries. In the Mineral exhibition, you will learn about the cosmic origins of gold, and at the end, you will get to pan for gold yourself at Gold Museum’s indoor pool. Found gold and gemstones are yours to keep!

Summer Café

Torvisen Maja’s pop-up café at is open in the Outdoor Museum Area from June to August. Enjoy savory and sweet pastries, coffee, and tea, and find lovely souvenirs! Vegan and gluten-free options are also available.

Outdoor Museum

Our Outdoor Museum Area opens in early June and remains open until the end of September. At the Outdoor Museum, you can peek inside the gold miners’ cabins and explore artifacts from the cultural history of the goldfields, such as machines and river boats.

Hear the call of the wild? The Urho Kekkonen National Park opens right next to us, with perfect trails for a day hike of 1 km, 3 km, 5 km, War Historical Trail 3 km and Geological Trail 7 km. The longer trails lead to the closest fells Pikku-Tankavaara and Iso-Tankavaara, with a beautiful views to the Fells of Pyhä-Nattanen. Find the paths and more information from luontoon.fi.
