The museum's permanent exhibition sheds light on Lapland's colorful history of gold mining, showcasing the lives of the miners through objects, photographs and documentation. The museum also tells the stories of the most legendary gold miners. The pan-shaped Golden World building features exhibits from some 20 countries.
During the summer season, the museum also has an outdoor section, featuring original buildings and troughs from the gold rush period, as well as other gold mining machines, huts, a smoke sauna and many other exhibits. The outdoor museum also boasts a gold panning site. During the winter visitors can pan for gold in the museum's indoor sites.
We recommend that you reserve your time for a visit about one hour.
